If I ever decide to go see Jason Castro at the Harbor again, talk me out of it!!! As thrilled as we were to welcome Jason back to Rockwall after coming in #4 on American Idol, it was disappointing having to fight the crowds and noise just to get a glimpse of our favorite idol. We parked about a mile away and walked to the venue in 95 degree heat just in time to hear that he was entering the staging area. We couldn't see what was going on - we could hear, but only until the helicopters and small planes overhead came closer. We meandered around the crowd for several minutes until we finally found higher ground and were able to get a glimpse of him. We could barely make out what was being said - from afar we saw Jason receive the key to the city by the mayor of Rockwall and receive a flag that has been flown at the US Capital by our congressman, Ralph Hall. He finally sang his first song, Daydream. Gloria was approaching meltdown, so I decided at that point it was time to head for the car. As we walked, we heard him sing Crazy, the song he sang at his AI audition. Half way to the car, I decided to plant the girls in the grass while I went the rest of the way. I jogged and walked (mostly walked) to the car then drove back to get them. It was quite an experience. I was extremely parched at that point - we pulled into the new Starbucks (the 8th one within a 5 mile radius of our house). It just so happens it was their first day open - actually their soft opening - lucky for us, we got free drinks!! What a way to top off our Jason Castro concert adventure!
